Submit via email in Rich Text or Plain Text - NOT HTML

Hello everyone. So not sure if this is even possible. We are not really using InfoPath for all the cool fancy stuff yet... but I have a need to have a form that a user can open and fill in some basic info and then based on an email address in a drop down, submits the information via email.

The problem I have is that the audience these emails go to are primarily Blackberry users. When sending, half the stuff reads on the Blackberry and the other stuff is just blank. I've done some testing and it appears this is because the email is being submitted in HTML formatting instead of Rich or Plain text. I set my Outlook client to default send in Rich Text, but when I check, the Info Path form is always submitting in HTML format. I have searched and searched, trying to find out how I can set the InfoPath form to only submit in Rich or Plain text only. I'm using InfoPath 2007. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!!!

I don't have a blackberry that I can test this on but what happens if you create a special "email view" of the form - that is the form switches to this special view upon submit so that the view shows when the email is sent.

Then on that view add some text box controls or expression box controls only instead of having tables, images etc.  This might show ok on the Blackberry, but I don't have a way to test - just a suggestion.

The other way you could work around this would be to introduce a DB to the solution - the form gets submitted to a DB and then you can configure triggered emails when forms are submitted and those you can format much easier for the blackberry and just use server mail to grab the values from the DB fields to send in the e-mail.

Our DB tools such as DBXL would easily allow for this sort of scenario (we use it ourselves for internal workflow emails all the time).

Thanks man! This worked great. Not pretty, but does do PLAIN text, which solves, cannot do all the nice colors, but that is Blackberry's problem. Thanks so much for the advice was able to do an alternate view and display the entry page field in blank text fields!!!

     BINGO!

    Regards,

    Trevor
