    Read only views

    Hello,

I've created an Infopath form (travel approval) that on submit stores data to a Sharepoint Library and initiates an approval workflow. When the form is submitted, the approver and submitter receive an email with the link to the form. The approver and subitter for the request are identified in the InfoPath form itself in 2 seperate fields, rather than from a list of people due to the enourmous size and structure of the organization. Ideally, I want the approver to only be able to view the form as READ ONLY but have a approve/reject button and a comment field enabled when they view the form. I don't want anyone to be able to make changes to the form at this point unless the form is rejected where the submitter can modify the form and start the workflow again.

Am I able to do that with InfoPath forms? If so, what is the best way to achieve this?

Hi Slovak1, I think your best option is to use a form load rule. This rule will run every time a form is opened. You just need to apply a rule that checks if it is a new form being created, or if someone is opening a submitted form. If it is a new form, do nothing and let the user complete the form as normal. If it is a submitted form, you send them to a read only view. You could also go as far as comparing the users name to the submitter/approvers names in the form and send them to their particular view with the buttons needed for their task??? hope that helps.

    Thanks. The rule option worked.
