Error - indicating the form is locked...

    Hi

I am getting the error This form cannot be filled out because you do not have adequate permission, another user has the form open or the form is open in another program.

I know that I have correct permission, and I know no one else has the form open.  I may have had the form open last week when I had to bomb out of infopath.  I know in the past when I have had locks like this - they have gone away relatively quickly - these seem to be "stuck" locked.

I have looked at http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/5922/22095.aspx but am reluctant to try it as these forms are part of my dbxl document type and I definitely don't want them deleted.

If I switch off propogate deletes from the SharesPoint mapping will I be able to delete the form in sharepoint then re shred it from dbxl into SharePoint ?

    Thank you

    Catharine

I have been into sharepoint designer and clicked on the xml and edited with infopath - this works ok - no error message.  I have submitted the form and in the "modified by" date and time I have the correct date and time for the edit I have just done.

When I go back to sharepoint "proper", refresh the screen and click on the infopath icon - I get the error message.

In sharepoint designer I don't get any locks indicated by the listing of these documents.

    Hi Catharine,

To answer your question about deleting and reshredding, yes, you should be able to do that but it seems like a lot of trouble to workaround the issue.

I'm wondering if the lock is coming from SharePoint or DBXL. We should probably schedule a brief support call to investigate your issue.

We are also testing internally a workaround for the content type issue you were seeing and hope to have more details on this later tonight.

Please send email to Support to schedule a brief call to investigate your issue.

    Thanks!

    Hi Catharine,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble on your forms. Below are a few questions:

Is this the error you're seeing?

"The form cannot be filled out because you do not have adequate permissions, another user has the form open, or the form is open in another program. Do you want to open a read-only copy of the form?"

What happens when you select yes to open on read-only? Can you still fill out and submit the form to SharePoint and DBXL?

Are you using check-out/check-in when editing the form in SharePoint?

Using the SharePoint set up you have provided us from another thread (http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/16553/58130.aspx#58130), I click in and out of my forms constantly when testing and have never gotten this error while reopening forms.

Yes this is the error that I am seeing.

When I say yes and open in read only - it does allow me to fill out and submit the form to SharePoint and DBXL.  But then when I try and open the form again it is still locked.

We are not using check-in/out  when editing in SharePoint.

I have had this problem before - but it is rare and has always disappeared after a few minutes.  These files have been locked for almost a week.

I have a couple of Infopath forms which I use to open other forms for background editing.  I cannot edit these locked forms with the "background" process.

Last week I was running one of the background forms and was getting errors, http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/16577/58160.aspx#58160.  I did have to bomb out of infopath during that process and I think these files might have been affected by that.

    Hi Catharine,

I do agree that the InfoPath crash could be leaving them locked but the lock should time out after 10 minutes (both for SharePoint and DBXL). Since the forms open fine from SharePoint, it's a DBXL lock that you have. It may be that your code - which is programmatically opening the forms from DBXL's Web methods - is trying to open all forms and if you try to open the form in another window this causes the lock issue. We'll have to look at your code to tell.
