Creating InfoPath forms and publishing it in sharepoint site

Hi, I'm new to share point. I have to create a form using info path, create a new form library and publish it to a share point site. The form is a user request form. My questions are

    1. How do i map the form columns in the library. Do i have to create a list in share point? How does the form work here?
    2. How can i associate a work flow when a user submits the data?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks
