Data from Outlook Calendar into InfoPath Form (for Room Reservation)

    Hi guy's

i've a little problem with Outlook Calendar and InfoPath. In my Form is a Room Reservation function (a room is nothing else than a AD user). Since I cannot integrate Outlook into an InfoPath form (at least not without huge effort), I thought I could make a Button to open Outlook and then make there an appointment to book a room. That shouldn't be such a big deal, but how can I get exactly this appointment back into my form? Cause I really need to store the appointment data in my form.

    What I thought so far:

    1. The appointment gets an unique title (e.g. formtitle+counter), then I could recieve all appointments from the user and filter against this unique title. But I really don't know how to open the outlook appointment thing with a dynamic titel. Is there an easy way?

    2. I  could code my own appointment webapp and put it somehow into the form. How could I do that? If the webapp would work, can I just integrate an iframe into the xslt? Do I need to change the xsd-schema as well?

I've seen some verry similar questions in the web. But most people are satisfied with a solution which just books a room in outlook without any checking or feedback. But what if the room is already taken?

If anybody has some advice I would be very greatful. This hole Infopath Sharepoint thing is a pain in the ass so far (I'm very new to this Microsft-World and I'm not pleased at all) ;)

Sorry for spelling and grammar mistakes, I'm not a native speaker.

    kind regards

    Hi Dienstag,

    Your english is perfect.

I've never seen anyone come up with a good solution for this and I've been developing InfoPath forms for 10+ years. You can add code to your form that queries MAPI but as you say that's a "huge effort".

Sorry to rain on your InfoPath parade,

     Hi Patrick,

Thx for your answer. This is very unfortunate, but I allready thought so. Well if I would find a good solution I'll post it here.
