"Configuration system failed to initialize" error when trying to add a Validate Event to a field

I am using InfoPath 2010. VBS for Applications starts up and says, "Creating the Visual Basic or C#" project, thinks for a while, then throws the error: "Configuration system failed to initialize." Any ideas?

    Hi Dipique,

    Sorry, I have no clue.

Have you read the Google results for this error? There's a lot of posts. Here's a link: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=Configuration+system+failed+to+initialize&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CYoMuhchUTK6qNoq2iwO9i_zFDQAAAKoEBU_QZQi3&fp=f6444ac86d33da03

    Good luck!

Yes... apparently it has something to do with a config file, but of course from Infopath you never create a config file. In fact, it doesn't even get as far as showing me visual studio before it errors out.

Hi, I'm not sure that it can help, but have you checked the "design checker"?

I have tried opening VB for Applications (2005) separately; it opens just fine. I have also opened up the file permissions to make sure it wasn't failing to write a file. Still no luck. I have also attempted a repair and it didn't make a difference.

Ok sorry I misunderstood your first post , I think you have a problem on the "preview".

I can suggest to make a copy of your code and form (Just in case ...), after that you can copy your codes. Try to remove your code files (with infopath ) and create a new one. Paste your copy and try it.

I hope your problem would be solved.

This is on a brand new form. There is nothing to copy.

Can you try to create a code project with another account?

Perhaps, you have something corrupt on your profile.

I have tried a whole new computer and I have tried setting up new accounts on the computer--maybe it's the set of installed software that I'm using?

Just in case anyone else encounters this problem, I found the solution: 1) Go to Windows Features 2) Expand "Windows .NET Framework 3.5.1" 3) Select all items for installation 4) Click "OK" 5) Restart if necessary This resolved my issue.
