    Disabling Sections

    Hi,

I am new to InfoPath and have been tasked with creating a form for our marketing team to use.  I created a form that is emailed to different people for approval once a requestor fills out the form, signs, and sends.  The form is set up so that each signer (approver) has his/her own section.  If he/she approves, they sign and submit which automatically sends the form the next person for approval.  I would like to have the sections on the form hidden depending on which step the approval process the form is at.  For example when the requestor is filling out the form I want all other sections to be hidden.  Once the form is submitted and sent to the VP of Marketing I would like the VP to be able to see his section and the previous section as readonly.  Once he submits to the EO, I would like the EO to see her section and all previous sections in readonly.  I cannot figure out how to set the conditional formatting to accomplish this request.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Ubaser,

Are you using the InfoPath rich client or the browser-based client? If the former, you can use User Roles to easily accomplish your goal. User Roles can be accessed in the Designer from the Tools menu. If you are using browser based forms you will need to use On Load rules (Tools->General->Rules in IP2007) and use field(s) in the form (state, user, etc.) to control what sections are visibile etc. If you can't do User Roles, it's easy to set conditional formatting on the sections based on a field in the form.

I am running into another problem.  I have the form set up to email diffenet views (1 through 6) when the user hits submit to different people.  I set user roles to have access to the form on the differenet views.  For some reason I can get the form to email the view I want to start with but when the second person (View 2) submits the form it does not email view 3 like the rule is set up.  It sends view 2 to the next person.

    Thanks for the help.
