Cascading Dropdown list Using SharePoint Look up list from multiple SharePoint lists

    Hi

Some one can help me, if possible screen shots.
    Environment : MOSS 2007, InfoPath 2003

I can explain the example relating to my task.
Assume that Department is One SharePoint list, Employee details is one SharePoint List.

The First Drop down display the Department name, The 2nd drop down list has to display employees list relating to the selected department.

with out coding how can we specify the filter in Drop down list.

    Appreciate your help.
    Thank you

    Hi Sivashiva,

If you want to filter the data on the server, and not incur the cost of pulling down all of the values, you will need to pass a parameter to SharePoint to filter the contents before downloading. That will requires either use of SharePoint's FilterOWSSVR.dll or some Web Service that has access to SharePoint (ideally, installed on the SharePoint server). The former is easier to do since no server-side installation is required. Qdabra Software (provider of this free forum) provides a free trial version of qRules v2.2 with a built-in FilterOwssvr command so you don't have to write any code. Blogs on other sites (for example SYM Wong) can show you how to write the code if you want to try without the qRules free trial.

If you don't care about pulling all of the data down from the second list, you can set up filtering in the InfoPath form quite easily. This is documented in many blogs on this site. Search for "cascading dropdowns". Greg Collins has a couple blogs on this from many years ago.

    Good luck!

Sounds good. BTW, here's a link to the FilterOwssvr stuff in qRules: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/qrules/entry49214.aspx

     Hi Patrick

In that document, there is no guidance how to set the rules for drop down list.
through filter expressions we can display the related in second drop down box.

If you have any other resource, that helps.

    Thank you
    shiva
