InfoPath Dev

I am using InfoPath 2010 and I added 3 Person Group Picker fields.  I tested and they work find an are finding my user emails in SharePoint.  I noticed that when I select a user, the data in the field appears like this:  Kreuder, William.  Thus, the actually email does not appear, just the user id.  I also noticed that when I select the user in the picker and click on Submit, an email does not send to the user(s).  Is there a way to get this function to send emails once the Submit button is selected?  Incidently, I did try setting a rule on the Submit button, but it could not validate the field for the user name is appearing as Kreuder, Wililam and not the email address itself.  I do know the name is linked to the email but the Rule seems to be looking for the actuall email. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello! I went thru the proceedures listed. Unfortuantely, I can not figue out how to hook up all of this to my 3 Person Group Picker fields. I am usnig InfoPath 2010. My purpose is to set up a rule so when a user clicks on my custom submit button on the form, the emails get sent to the choosen individuals. As you know, by default the fields populate with Kreuder, William and the system does not recognize this as an email. Thanks!
