    Rule to disable edit

I have a view with many controls in it. I want to have two modes for this view,
A- Edit mode, where the user is allowed to make changes.
B-View mode, where the controls are disabled for edit.

Is there a way to this without making a rule on each control.??

If you are doing this it would be a good idea to maintain two views, one for Edit mode and Other for View mode.
We can just switch views based on the requirement.

Having a conditional formating on each field to enable/disable will effect the performace of your form.

    Richard,

From what I've learned with developing InfoPath forms, there is no quick way to make all of the controls in a view disabled, which means you'll have to put a rule on each one. There is one workaround that I use often though, In you're View Mode (which you want disabled) make all of your fields Expression Boxes. This way the data can't be modified and you don't have to create rules for each control. Hope this helps!

I was hoping that there would be a trick on the view.xsl by introducing a variable that changes the templates, but , I take the expression box solution as a very good one. thanks.
