Why is my drop down box selecting its own text!!!

    Hi again,

I have created a form that is not linked to a sharepoint, or data base of any sort.

I need to record the customers details in my form, and have added a drop down box for the customer Suburb. I have listed the value as the postcode, which then automatically is displayed in the post code text box when the suburb is selected. The suburbs that relate to each post code are then entered under the Display Name. Select, is set as the default.

What I am finding is, when I select suburb A for example from my drop down list, it is jumping to another suburb altogether. Sometimes the suburb selected has the same post code (Value) as the suburb I am trying to select. How can I get it to recognise the item I want to select from the drop down box, not the one it thinks I need?

Also, as I have over 200 suburbs entered, is there a way I can set up the drop down list so that when I start typing a suburb name by using the first few letters, the coresponding names are shown??? At the moment I need to scroll all the way through to select each suburb.

Sounds complicated. There must be an issue with the rules. Would you be able to attach the form, via the Options tab, so we can take a look?

As far as entering a few letters into a dropdown to reduce the options listed, InfoPath doesn't possess this feature.

    Hi,

I cant seem to attach the form to this reply.

Can I email it through to you?

What form do i need to send to you? The only one i can get is the published form so im not sure you can see the data controls with that.

    Which version do you need?

When you click the Reply button (not Quick Reply), you'll see a tabbed view. Click on the Options tab and you'll be able to attach a file.

I discovered why you were unable to attach the form - because it's large, over 34MB in size. I received your 7 emails with each of the files, but when I try to open the form, it crashes InfoPath.

I haven't seen such a large InfoPath form in the past, and I would recommend that your first step should be to investigate why the form is so large. Qdabra offers a detailing service for InfoPath forms in case you're interested.
