    Sending form results via email

     Hello all,

I'm glad there's a newbie questions forum here since that's where I am - at the very beginning!  I've got InfoPath 2010 and I've created a simple form whose results I'd like to send via email (ultimately I want the form results to be in the body of the email message, but that might be another post).  At any rate, I've got my Submit Options all set up but when I click submit, I get the following message:

To send this form in e-mail, first save a copy to your computer.  Then create a new mail message by using your preferred e-mail program.

Is this expected behavior?  Am I doing something wrong?  Do I need to use code to launch Outlook and insert the form results into the body of the message?  I really need for this to be a bit more seamless.  I'm sure this goes without saying, but I doubt users will embrace the use of forms I create if it really just means more work for them.

    Thanks,

    Kate

If you have Outlook set up as your default email program, then InfoPath will pick up on that and send the email using it.

I'm not sure if InfoPath will send email on other email applications.

Please check whether your machine has Outlook set as the default email program.

     Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  Outlook is set as my default email program.  I just double checked using a mailto link.

    Thanks,

    Kate
