show a checkbox only once it has been emailed

    Hi,

I have created a Leave form for users to use within one branch of a company.
I have 2 Check boxes at the bottom of the form  (Approved and Denied).

Is it possible to hide these check boxes until the user has emailed it to one of his/her managers?

If not, is there a way to work around this?

This form is being used as an attachment. It is not on a sharepoint portal.

    Thanks in advance!

You can add those checkboxes to a section, and add a attribute and set it to "submitted" once when the form is successfully emailed.

In the section (where the checkboxes are there), add a conditional formattion that if status != submitted then hide this control.

When you add a field, you can add it as an attribute instead of element. Attached pic.

Re: show a checkbox only once it has been emailed

i would also like to make one part of the form read-only once it is sent.

This would be the areas that the user fills out. (which are not in a section)

As Aruna said, you need to add conditional formatting to the section so that it is hidden when the submitted attribute has been set.  You can add conditional formatting to your other controls to make them read-only based on the same condition.

Attached a sample form that contains couple of controls (made them read-only after a form is submitted) and a section with checkboxes (made it visible after a form is submitted).

Look at the conditional formatting for each one of them to have an idea....

    Hope that helps!

Re: show a checkbox only once it has been emailed

    Hi Aruna / Jimmy,

    Thank you for the help!

I got the form working properly after a couple of test emails.
The additional section did show after i clicked on reply, but now when i click on reply this section does not show.

This happened after i set the read-only attribute to the other controls (Which I've removed due to this problem)

I have added an attribute to this section called "Status" and have set it to not show the section if the form is not submitted.

Do you have any ideas on why this is happening?

     Hi Aruna,

    I have attached the form.

When i send the form to my boss, and if he clicks on "reply" the hidden section should show, which it doesnt.

Can you just type submitted in the the conditional formatting text field (I think you typed "submitted") - just make that change and try.

Re: show a checkbox only once it has been emailed

is it a possibility that the form attachment and security have something to do with this?
