Multiple Instances of the Same Secondary Source filtered differently on the same form

I'm pretty new to infopath, so this might be common knowledge, but I'm wondering if it's possible to have multiple instances of a repeating table with data from a secondary source, a Sharepoint List in this case, showing different datasets based on some sort of filter.

Or, do I have to set up a separate repeating table in my main data source for each of the instances I want and write the code to populate those repeating tables with the data from my secondary source.  Would this also require setting up a separate data connection for all of the instances I'd like to have?

    Thanks ,

    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Your second paragraph is correct. You can load all the data into the secondary data connection, then the code filters as it moves it into the main data source.

Another option is to have the filtering server-side, which requires a web service; you could write your own or use DBXL to filter your SharePoint queries server-side.
