    Newbie Custom Query How To

I'm brand new to InfoPath and VB. Can someone help me with the correct syntaxt to create my own query without breaking the data field bindings? I have one query field that I'll use to select a record(s) from a SQL databse. I want to modify the query so that I can format a date field to return formatted, retrieve all the rest of the fields and populate the InfoPath form accordingly. I know the SQL query statement to use in MSSQL but I don't know how to apply it to a button.

     Thanks in advance

In the wizard for the SQL receive data connection, there should be an option for specifying the SQL Select Text. Double click the button and add a rule to query that data connection.
