    Retrieve Sharepoint tasks

I'm starting off using qrules to retrieve tasks from a sharpoint list.

I created the fields in the main data source and a Repeating section on the form.

Next created a mapping.xml using "Infopath to Sharepoint list tool" and created the retrieve data connection as outlined in Hilary Stoupa's "submit items to a sharepoint list with qrules v2.0"  ( I have v.2.1).

When I preview I am not getting the data from the sharepoint list, the form is blank, the data source is set to "Retrieve data when form is opened".

     Attatched is my mapping.xml.

Did you submit data to your sharepoint list? In preview mode, you have to submit data and then you can check your sharepoint list after submitting.

Let me know if you still run into issues.

In that case, follow these steps:

    1. Add a secondary data connection to your SharePoint library or list to receive data.
    2. Configure your form templae to use the secondary data connection.
    3. Add a rule and set action to  'query using a data connection'.
    4. Preview your form.

Now you will be able to see the data from your SharePoint library or list.

    Hope that helps!

    Re: Retrieve Sharepoint tasks

Yes, this helped.  I successfully brought the data down.  I now want to edit and submit back using "SubmittoSharepoint" command in qrules.

I can only create a mapping.xml to fields / groups in the main data source.

I am assuming I now need to copy retrieved data to the main data connection fields and then execute the submit.

    1) do you know if this should be done before or after the edit?

    2) do you know of an example of how this is done?

    Re: Retrieve Sharepoint tasks

    I found an example:

     http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/mel_balsamo/archive/2009/12/03/
    copy-sharepoint-list-data-to-main-data-source.aspx

I would still like feedback/opinions on process.

Should the data retrived from the sharepoint secondary data source be copied/moved to the main data source and then edited?

In other words, which fields should you use on the form, those from the main data source or from the secondary data source?

    Hi Marzipan,

If you have read both Mel and Hilary's documents, then it should be straightforward to put it all together.

    1. Query

    2. Copy to main DOM

    3. Edit

    4. Submit

If you have difficulty with this, we have qRules support packages available which would allow us to put together instructions specific to your scenario.
