Hiding Rows in Multiple Instances of Repeating Section

I have a form with a repeating section that lists violations created based on user responses.

The entire form also repeats, so I can have multiple instances of form with different answers.

The problem is my repeating section of violations lists ALL violations in the data source instead of just the ones from the specific instance.

I setup conditional formatting on my repeating section:   /Data Source Name/my:OptGroup_Violation/my:Violation/my:_Area_ not equal to /Data Source Name/OptGroup_Repeating Form Section/_Area_  then hide control

I need it to hide the entire row, if the _Area_ in violation section is different from the _Area_ in body of the form, but instead it hides the entire repeating section.

I am using InfoPath 2007 and the form autopopulates based on data source from SQL xml.

I would really appreciate some help on this.  I can provide additional information if this is not clear.

Yes, thank you.  Here is the snapshot.  Does this help make my problem clearer?

The problem appears to be that you are using absolute instead of relative paths in your expressions.  Try using

    my:_Area_

    instead of

     /Data Source Name/my:OptGroup_Violation/my:Violation/my:_Area_

Re: Hiding Rows in Multiple Instances of Repeating Section

When I set up the conditional formatting on the repeating section of Deficiency, I just selected 'Select Field or Group' option.

I didn't actually enter the XPath in the conditions.  I just showed it here to demonstrate the _Area_ control existed in 2 places on form.  Sorry if that was misleading.

But still does not display only the deficiencies that correspond to the _Area_.

Well, the screenshot of your form's layout in relation to the data source doesn't seem to make sense to me at the moment, and the formula you posted seems to have no relation to the field you have highlighted in the screenshot.

Can you attach a stripped-down version of your form to this thread so that one might inspect it and suggest a solution?

I appreciate your time and apologize I am not being more clear.

Am attaching a sample .xsn. What is happening, when I run my report through InfoPath, all deficiency items are displayed in this section, rather than just the ones that belong with that instance of the form.

I see.  Thank you for that.

From the way your data source is structured, I believe that the only way to accomplish what you want would be to manually edit the XSL, and even then, the controls inside that manually created section would be read-only.

Is there any reason why you can't have Deficiency as a child group of  Items in the data source?  That seems like the more logical approach and you wouldn't even need to use filtering on the repeating section.

I tried what you suggested and I am did not get any different results.

I am unable to set any kind of conditional formatting to show only deficiencies based on the _Area_ control.

     Any suggestions?
