    Repeating table

    Hy,

I have two libraries in Sharepoint. the first one is called Change Driver (CD) and the second one is called Work Order (WO).
The Change Driver lib contains Infopath forms like CD1, CD2,...
respectively, the Work Order lib contains Infopath forms like WO1, WO2,....

Any CD can have 1, 2, 3 or more WO affiliated to.
then, in my CD form template I want to create a repeating table in order to recap any WO (and its main fields) affiliated to a specific CD. this table should also allow the user to add, suppr or modify a WO and its main fields in the Work Order Lib (published in Sharepoint).

my problem is, when I bound the repeating table to my sharepoint lib (Work Order), I can't allow the user to add or suppr row anymore.

Is there a sollution or do I rather use web services?

    Hi fab,
    Welcome to the Forum!
I think when you are connecting to WO Library you are creating a secondary dataconnection to that specific library, and you are placing that secondary datasource as a Repeating table in the UI.

If my above assumption is correct, For a secondary dataconnections repeating table you cannot add or remove a row.

One more thing I am not sure is i dont think you can modify another form of sharepoint from InfoPath application.

If I got the thing wrong please explain in a little bit more detail.

    Hi Agni,

You're right, I'm creating a dataconnection in my CD Infopath form to my WO Sharepoint Lib in order to display its main fields.
I'm afraid then I can't make any modification to this fields.

Is it possible to write a js code (like a OnCloseEvent) that open a WO Infopath form, write xml data into (my mainfields) save it, publish it in Sharepoint and close it? Or is it easier to call a webservice?

    merci d'avance.

    Hi Fab,
You can use an id in the WO form and when they click on a button in the repeating table, you can load the WO form in a separate InfoPath form and support editing of it, you can also just use import to load the WO form into the main DOM (or a secondary DOM), do some interactions on it (via view controls) and then write some code to save the XML fragment back to SharePoint. That's easy to do. It's all possible, but will require some coding. We have done pieces of this before, so let us know if you want to pay for an hour or two of time to send you some code.

One more thing - you won't need a web service to do this, but you will have locking issues with the WO forms if two people try to modify at the same time. You should consider using our Database Accelerator (see Downloads-Free-Database Accelerator) for a web servicve tool that supports this and other scenarios out-of-the-box. :) Happy trails!

    Hi Patrick,

    Let see your code!!
I'm already adding a button "Open and fill out a new form" but if I want to delete an existing form I think I need to call a Sharepoint Webservice.
    what's your opinion?
