i have a dropdown control pulling in values from a database.

what i would like to do on form load is have the dropdown show the department that the machine user belongs to... BUT also show all the other values in case they wish to change this for whatever reason...

i can easily set this with a filter on the data source but it only shows the 1 department excluding all the other options.

setting an added rule on the control has no effect.

 

You should use a default value on the field bound to the dropdown box, or a rule to set the value of the field bound to the dropdown box.  However, the rule to do this cannot be on that field itself because rules on fields only execute when their field's value changes.
