Page Break Inside Repeating Section - Stumped

    Hello,

I have an InfoPath form that is opened after it is prepopulated with data.  The data populates a repeating section on the form.  After each repeating section there needs to be a page break (each repeating section is one printed page).  How can this be accomplished without usng code?  Every attempt at a solution always adds an extra page break at the end of the form and this is not acceptable for business reasons.  This problem has be stumped and I would greatly appreciate any inside you could provide.

The closest that I have come to solving this is by putting a page break inside a section, inside the repeating section and then setting the conditional formatting parameters - the interior section does not "see" the repeating section, so I am not able to get the repeating sections current position.

     Thanks in advance

I have the same situation, and I have looked at your solution.

Can you please clarify for me if the fields under Group 2 represent the repeating form, or if it only represents the page break?  Also is field2 and field6 part of the report that is repeating and why would they need to be "="?

This is a big roadblock for me, so any help would be appreciated.

Am attaching an example of what I have, and what results it is giving me.

My page break works for the 1st repeated section but not for any section after that.

If I need to be clearer, please let me know.

The fields are basically counters and if they are equal the page break is not displayed.  This is because you do not want an extra page break at the end of the document.

If you set the default values for the fields and configure the conditional formatting similar to the original example, your form should work.

I tried to insert the default value function in the fields but keep getting error indicating not valid location.

I may not have my nodes set in correct order, although I have moved them without fixing this.  Can someone please look at my attached example in context of Qazi Anis' fix?

This may be obvious but I am not understanding where my error is so help is appreciated.

Re: Page Break Inside Repeating Section - Stumped

Thank you for your help, but I never did resolve this, and ended up changing form.  I now am faced with the same issue and this is maddening.  I tried your template again and I know it is something I am doing...

If I just put the expression into - Text Box Properties/Default Value/Value field (count(preceding-sibling::my:ASSEMBLYINSPECTION) + 1) I can click ok without error.  (although it still doesn't work)

But if I go to the same location and choose fx and try to add my xpath field in the formula field, I get the error of  "Node-test expected.  count(preceding-sibling::-->..<--/..) + 1",

If I just manually type in my node in the formula bar I get the error  ""preceding-sibling::ASSEMBLYINSPECTION" does not point to a valid location path of a field or group."

Can anyone help me with this?

Re: Page Break Inside Repeating Section - Stumped

I did get the expression to be accepted in the fx box, but now I am not getting correct breaking.  It breaks the 1st unit but nothing after that.  my formula boxes read 1 and 3, so the count portion is working correctly, but the preceding-sibling count is not.  Any suggestions?

I am attaching an example of my file.  I would greatly appreciate any help on this.

    HI Qazi,

i know this is an old post, but I am racking my brain on trying to get this to work in InfoPath 2010. I am new to using InfoPath and self-taught - and not a programmer by trade. I can not get the formula: count(preceding-sibling::group2) + 1 to work for me. Can you help me? I can send you the file I am working on.

Re: Page Break Inside Repeating Section - Stumped

Hi Qazi, I've used your example file and published to sharepoint 2013 site but the page break not seem to work. Even when I've ceated a totally new simplest form using infopath designer 2013, the form included 2 tables with the page break between them and then published it to sharepoint 2013 site but it's not working either. Everything is still on one page when i click on Print Preview or when I printed it out.

Is there anything missing or is that an issue with infopath 2013 and sharepoint 2013?Do you have any ideas?

    Thank you so much.

    Teddy.
