Changing Existing Columns In Form Library

I have encountered an issue with multi line text fields in one of my InfoPath forms, they are being displayed as 'Single Line of Text' and being limited to 255 chars.

I have found a fix for this which means remapping all of my multi line text fields on the form to new custom columns in Sharepoint when republishing the form.

The worry I have - does anyone know how sharepoint will react to this?

    e.g.

I have a form with a multi line text field called 'TextBoxA', this is published and hundreds of forms have been completed and submitted to a form library. I allowed InfoPath to create this column automatically upon publish so I cannot modify the field.

I create a new 'Multi Line Text Column' in Sharepoint, re-publish my form and map 'TextBoxA' to this new column while publishing.

Is this likely to cause errors? Will the data in 'TextBoxA' be lost when opening an old form?

    Thanks in advance, Simon

no, nothing will be lost, the previous forms will start pointing to the new template and date will be shown in the new column automatically.
