Emailing infopath form to multiple users

I have an infopath form that users are required to fill out and then click on submit so that the form then emails to the relevant people.

The main email recipient is set as default value in the "to" section of the submit button.

The other 4 email addresses come from 4 fields within the form itself.

The poblem that I am having is that the "cc" section of the submit button will only allow me to enter 1 field from which to define an email recipient.

Cannot use the "bcc" field because the main recipient needs to be able to see that the email wa sent to all relevant parties.

Is there any way to use more than one field to define mail recipients ?

or a way to hard code the mail recipients using background coding ?

    Hello vampyrus,

I usually use the function method.

    concat(field1, ";", field2, ";", field3, ";", field4)

This puts together 4 fields with a ";" between (same as in Outlook).

    Good luck

Ooooh thank you very much for that. I knew there had to be a way to do it somehow.

Wrvk82 - I tried following your directions however i just keep getting an error

The form cannot be submitted because some of the e-mail addresses cannot be resolved. If you know the values in the form that specify the e-mail addresses, revise them and try again.
    The following addresses did not resolve in the Cc line: concat(field1, "; ", field2, "; ", field3, "; ",field4)

Can anyone else help or explain why this is happening.

If I modify it so that there is only one name or address in the cc field then it works just fine.

Can you specify the values in those fields?

    E.g.:
    [email protected]

Make sure that the values are correctly implemented via Sharepoint Lists or hardcoded in the form.

Did you click the "Check formula" for errors?

    Kind regards,

OK ... the values for 2 of the entries are taken from fields that are text boxes only and the text boxes (when the formn is filled out) contain names - however there is no prblem at all with any of the other forms that I have made taking those names and then turning them into the relevant email address using outlook contacts lookups. The only difference between this form and the other forms is that there is only ONE "to" address and ONE "cc" address in the other fields whereas this form has several entries to be placed into the "cc" field.

The other 2 fields are combo boxes that contain names and those I could probably hardcode the actual email address in the combo boxes if necessary but would prefer not to as this creates more work for me.

To summarise - field 1 and field 3 is text box that contains a name (said name cannot be hardcoded as email address - field 2 and field 4 is combo box which could be hard coded in the values as email addresses.

OK so I take it no one else has any ideas on why this is not working ?

OK I have found a way to do this.

I have found that if I use the rules and conditions submit instead of plain email submit then I can select multiple submission via email and have the form submit 3 times so that it submits to all 5 different addresses that are reqd however it means that the submit button needs to be pressed 3 times.

Is there a way to avoid this ?

Can code be used to override the "press send" for the second and third data connection and sending of the form?

The Concat function should work fine. What happens if some of the fields are blank? And are the pull downs getting data from other Data connections or are they hardcoded selections?

     Hi Vampyrus,

I've a reply however maybe it's too late :). The issue here is when you put a field in in the To field only you have to make sure that this field won't be blank as when you submt the form, infopath tried to find the recipient of the form. Same for CC or BCC field if you're creating the data connection with only one of them.

    Thanks,

    Rehab,

     Good morning,

I am trying to add a concatenate (eg: concat("Bonjour ", field2, " - ", field4) ) function in an InfoPath data connection into the subject.

The thing is when I submit the form and received it by email, it does not give me the content in field 2 and 4 but it write literally field 2 and 4!

Ah, this means when you wrote your formula, you likely just typed it into the subject box in the data connection. Instead, click the fx button to open the formula editor and enter your formula there. :)

I did. I pressed "function" than insert function and took the concat function and I double clicked on the fields to add field2 and field4... :(

Can you attach your form in a reply under the options tab?
