I am following the video demo and trying to connect to a sharepont list, it is not a form library but a custom list, I assume that does not make a difference.

I am getting a "failed connection to data source"

http://<servername>/EventDemo/Lists/EventItems/Events.aspx

the web service and sharepoint are on the same server.

 I installed QueryBuilder on my desktop, I assume that is ok. 

For form libraries you have to remove the /Forms/AllItems.aspx section of the URL. For a custom list such as yours, I would assume that the URL needs to be "trimmed" as well. I would suggest:

1. Try to use QueryBuilder with a different library. If it works connects and allows you to select columns, this tells us that you don't have any permissions, server or set up issues.

2. Then try to play with the URL. Try, for example, http://<servername>/EventDemo/Lists/EventItems/

Changed sharepoint list url to:

http://<servername>/EventDemo/Lists/EventItems/ 

 And am getting the following:

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: DescribeListSchema
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
The SOAP message cannot be parsed.

Here it is!

For the Web Service Prefix URL, you should be using just http://<servername>

Also, f you changed the folder name during installation (from qdabrawebservice to qws0407) then you'll need to change value of the Web Service Name.

That worked!  I have saved the "form.xml" as a sample.  UGH!
