Access denied when trying to use Query Builder on SharePoint List

    Hi,

I have been using Query builder successfully against SQL databases for some time.  I am now trying to use it on a SharePoint List and getting an error message when clicking on the icon in Query columns.

    Details are

The Query cannot be run for the following DataObject: DescribeListSchema
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request ---> System.ApplicationException:Access denied.........

I won't carryon typing this out unless necessary.

It looks as if I have an issue with privileges...

My Qdabara webservice and the SharePoint site are on the same box.

I am the SharePoint administrator for the box and my account has access to all the sites/libraries.

What account is being used to connect Querybuilder to SharePoint ? (Qdabra is successfully mapping to SharePoint for another DocumentType)

I don't really know where/what to change to eliminate this error.

    Thank you for your help

    Catharine

    Hi Catharine,

Could you attach a screenshot of the error (via the Options tab, when replying)?

Also, there may be errors being logged into the eventvwr; can you check? These might give us some ideas for addressing the issue.

    Thanks!

    Hi

    Error attached.

I have looked in the event viewer and I cannot see anything for today - other than the licence loading.

Just for information (I don't think it has anything to do with this access denied - but thought I would mention it anyway.)  EVERY time I map a document to sharepoint I get this warning message

aught exception updating SPListItem for known item in list. http://...eu-it/ARK/ARKDocuments (DocType = 'ARKForm', DocId = 1848)

    Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Cannot complete this action.

Please try again. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Cannot complete this action.

    Please try again.

Thanks for the screenshot. The other error looks unrelated but we can address that too.

I know they are blanked out for security/privacy reasons, but can you confirm that the Web Service URL Prefix and the SharePoint List URL fields are the same? (in the blanked out portions) I just want to confirm that there's no machine name / host name mismatch.

    Thanks.

Yes I can confirm that I get the error when they are the same.

    Just to give full information.

Our SharePoint address and Qdabra address box was originally set up with a hostname http://hostname  but the rest of the environment has full names ie hostname.firmnet.net.

So we have aliases set up so both http://hostname/.... and http://hostname.firmname.net/.... work.  I hope this does not cause a problem.

    Thanks for the info.

There might be a hop happening somewhere; notice that the error message references the "CrossDomainAccessCheck".

    More soon...

Re: Access denied when trying to use Query Builder on SharePoint List

This was solved last week. In case anyone else faces a similar issue, the problem was that Sharepoint was accessed via http://domainname.com, whereas DBXL was installed to http://<machinename>. The solution was to switch DBXL to use the fully qualified domain name as well.
