    Help with project please!

    Hi,

I'm looking for comments and suggestions regarding a new task I've been assigned as a SharePoint administrator, and figured this would be the best community to ask.

A particular department needs a custom list that contains the top 100 clients.  Each client record will contain various fields that will be static across every other client record, and will not change.  They want the ability to view the most current client information by viewing a record, and also have access to previous records that have been submitted as well (these records will be updated on a quarterly basis, for example).

I've been pondering on how best to configure this scenario, and what I had come up with initially didn't satisfy, so I'm now looking to InfoPath as my savior.

I was thinking I'd have an InfoPath form bound as a content-type to a specific library.  The problem is I'm not sure if I can construct a view where it would only show the 'latest and greatest' client record.. I could add a 'group' modifier to the view where they could just click on the newest form for that client, but that doesn't seem too attractive or professional of a solution.

It seems like too much work to have them submit a new form, which fires off a workflow which then updates columns in a different list that houses these client records...

Does anyone have any other ideas of how I can go about doing this?

Why can't you just enable archiving for a form library and display the forms (which will always be the latest) in the default view?
