Use one connection file (udcx) to retrieve multiple data sets from a web service

    Hi.

I have an infopath form published into a sharepoint form library.

I would like to recieve data to my infopath form using a web service (secondary data source). The web service retrieves its data from a sql database.

I read few articles suggesting that the best way to do so is to use a .udcx file which should be stored in a data connection library in my sharepoint site.

In my infopath form I have few dropdown, each from a different action of the webservice (different tables in the DB). I thought I could use the udc file as one connection source (like in odc file), but when i try to use the "convert" option in the data connection dialog box to produce the .udc file, it overwrites the old one and write the specific action in it, etc. This means, I will have to write 10 different .udx files, one for each of my actions, although the connection to the webservice is the same in all of them ... ???

What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to use one file to hold the connection details for the webservice and to retrieve data from multiple actions of this webservice in my form? Can the udc file contain multiple "SelectCommand" elements?

Were you able to use just one file?

I have recently been experimenting with this process. Although I am using stored procedures I am forced to use udc files for a browser form.  Each stored procedure created a new udc, typically this is not the best use. I have found that I could share the one udc,  and get differnt results, i.e. cascading dropdowns. I also found that I could filter the stored procedure either through code behind or filtering the data set in the form.

if you can provide some more details I will offer any knowledge I may have.

    Kind regards,
    Larry
