We set a form library to "Require Document to be Checked Out Before Editing".

The problem is the user can open the form without checking out and click the submit button and see a success message. Unfortunately, Qdabrawebservices is not aware of the Sharepoint setting requiring the check out before editing and it happily accepts the edited document. Sharepoint will not take the changes from Qdabra (rightly so as it was not checked out) and this means the documents are out of sync.

Is there anyway to disable the submit button when the browser enabled form is opened and it is not checked out?

Is this an IPFS form? My memory is a little vague, but I remember working with an browser form (no Qdabra products involved) where locking was not respected by Sharepoint itself, and users could overwrite each other. I would need to recreate the scenario to confirm.

But anyway, to get to the bottom of this, what does your submit button do? Does it submit via the DBXLDocumentService > SubmitDocument?

 Thanks for your reply.  It is an Inforpath Forms Server based from and when "submit" button is clicked it sends the form to the /qdabrawebservice/dbxldocumentservice.asmx?WSDL webservice.
