    Custom Task Pane

    Hi,

I have a Custom HTML Task Pane that I do not want to show when my form first opens. Is there any way to set the visible property to false during the On Load event? I've tried but seems to be a timing issue because the initial view hasn't loaded yet. I can't find anything in InfoPath that lets you set the initial state of the Task Pane. BTW, I am using IP 2003.

The good news.. I have figured out how to show / hide the Task Pane with a button click :) ..I just don't want it displayed until I click. I would also like it in it's own modal window if at all possible.

I have gone over & over the Help Topics and programming documentation.. I'm using VBScript (which I'm not really familiar with so I'm trying to keep it simple)

    Any ideas??

    Thanks!!

     From this thread:

You can set the task pane to hide during the OnSwitchView event, which occurs right before the first view is visible. There will be a short flash of it appearing and then disappearing (oh, well!), and then you can make it hide or show from code when the user clicks on the button, based on your needs.

Keep in mind though that the user can still open you task pane from the menus and keyboard shortcuts. So one solution for this is to set some simple message as visible in the task pane when you close it via code. Then if the user manually opens the task pane, they will see your message, and not an active task pane. The other option is to set all of the controls in the task pane to be disabled when you close the task pane via code... but this is more work.

Thank you Ernesto, I ended up doing what you mentioned.. although the short flash of the task pane bugs me but I'll have to deal with it. :)

    Thanks,

    Laura
