How to retrieve data and auto-populate multiple rows of a table

Hi, really appreciate if someone could help me with this... Basically I have to input a string, and use this string as the identifier to pull out data from an access table. Currently, if the string has only one line in the access table, i can pull the data out and populate a one-row table in infoPath. But the problem is that there can be multiple lines to one identifier. So when that happens, I will need the form to auto increase the number of rows of the table and populate all rows from the access table. For example, let's say I have an id of 12345, in the access database there can be 3 lines have this id but with all other columns different. So when I enter this id into the form, the form will have to increase the originally one-row table into 3 rows and fill in the information. So I am wondering if it is possible to do this without using code? Or if code is necessary, how should I go about it?

    Hi,

Ive seen this question before in Access related posts. But I am not using Access rather excel spreadsheet and webservice.

I have a string that starts the form. This value is an identifier to pull out data from excel file, and then from webservice. This 1st string might have multiple matches in secondary sources. By using connections and filters I was able to auto populate only the first value from both secondary sources. How can I pull multiples?  For example, I have a value of 106, in excel file connected there can be several lines that have this matching value but the next column i am interested in has different values. I would like to pull all corresponding rows. I appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Olechka and welcome,

Are you able to get all of the values into a secondary data source? If so, you can then use qRules to copy a table from your secondary data source to your main data source. The other way to do it for single XML files (that you file->import or file->merge) is to create an import XSLT and add it to your manifest.xsf. Then, when you use the file->merge or file->import command it will automatically import the form into your main DOM, but this requires manual import and won't work with Web Services unless you write code. Of course, if you write code in your form you can do this too from a Web Service.

If you already have data connections set up for Excel and the Web Service, the easiest solution is qRules. We're posting a free trial of 2.1 on the site in the next few days. Stay tuned.
