    Conditional required field

I would like to created a condition where if a specific option is selected on my option list then a textbox is required to have a value.  I have seen some posts about setting up an error message show; however this will be displayed in a web browser and Infopath shows a message that message boxes will not display in the web browser.  Is there some other way I can conditionally require my textbox?

write data validation on the text box,

    if specif_condition is true and

    text box is blank

    set the screen tip.

it will give sort of tool tip on the control if it does not contain valid data

Will the tooltip show up on the form when it is accessed via web browser?

yes if the data entered is invalid, the filed border will be dotted red and it will carry the tool tip

     Hello Guys,

I'm new here and new to Infopath, so I'm having issues with coding statements.

I'm trying to do (basically) what was asked on this post with some changes:

If an user select a specific radio box, I want to make two other fields required ( text box and another radio).

I'm having problems making the formula work, as when entering values for data validations and "Verifying the formula" I receive errors as Infopath doesn't recognize my strings.

If you have a path or direction I can follow to get the information on how to do this, it will be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Alex

Never mind... I was complicating what is very easy... Just need to use Validation!

    Thanks,

    Re: Conditional required field

Hi, I am an intern, so I apologize if this is a silly question, but I'm working to make a trial request process contained within Sharepoint. I was making some fields required with data validation and I have a few things going on. If a certain part of the process isn't going to be used, there is a N/A check box that hides that section. The data validation comes into play when the check box is equal to false. So if that part of the process is relevant, then all of the fields within that section become required. The asterisks within the fields are present, and disappear when N/A is checked, however, when anything is entered within those fields on the form preview, a dotted red border appears. To my understanding, that means that the data input is invalid, which I don't understand, since I just want any input to be required.

     What am I doing wrong?

     Thanks!
