    infopath mail message

    hi,

im very new to infopath 2007

a client of mine has asked me to make a Leave request form.

I have created the form with their required fields.

I need some help on editing the form in such a way that when the user sends the form, the recipient can accept or reject the request.

I've put in 2 buttons (Approved) and (Denied). there are rules on these buttons to send an email saying if their request is approved or denied.

when i send the email, these buttons do not show.

I would like the form to show these buttons only once the form is sent.

Is there a way to do this?

I am not using Sharepoint portal or workflows.

    Thanks in advance!!

Hi Sanvir and welcome to the InfoPath Dev forums.

I would suggest reading this great overview from the Office website about how to integrate Outlook/InfoPath to do what you want to do:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101645491033.aspx

Are your clients using Outlook 2007?  That is required to get this to work right.

Also you say you are not using SharePoint - will the form be sent to the manager or something for approval once submitted?  What sort of visibility does the company want on these forms?  If you are not using SharePoint or some other filestore the forms will end up in the people's email only and reporting becomes harder.  Might be fine if there is only one manager or the final forms go to one central email box for tracking.  But I just wanted to point that out to you.

     Hi Ted,

    Thank you for the response.
My client is using outlook 2007.

I used this same website to get the form to where it is now.

I am having a hard time trying to get 2 buttons to work on the form. These buttons must only show once the form has been received.
Or if you can explain to me how to get check boxes to work once the form is received.

Is there a way to be able to tick one of these boxes when replying to the request?

I think using the check boxes would be easier, but i cant find a way to edit this form once received.

    Thank you.

     Hi Ted,

Another problem ive been having is that when i try open the infopath form, i get an error message saying Infopath cannot open the form, please contact your system administrator.

    it has the following details:

    Form template: file:///C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\sanvir\My%20Documents\INFOPATH%20FORM%20WITH%20BUTTONS\Testwithbuttons.xsn
    Insufficient Security Privilege

This form cannot be opened because it is only allowed restricted security level. Contact the form author to resolve the issue.

I have changed the settings to full trust and it still gives me this message.

In the submit adapter in InfoPath for the email submit are you including the template?

    See the attached screenshot below

     HI Ted,

    I Will try this.

Another thing, how can i adjust the form to show these buttons only when replying to the request?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Sanvir,

Use some conditional formatting to show/hide the buttons depending upon the status of the workflow.  If the form is waiting approval then you show the buttons.  If it's approved, you hide the buttons

    Does that make sense?

     Hi Ted,

     Yes, this does make sense!
But we are not using a workflow.

This is just a template that i will load onto the clients pc's. From there, they will be able to fill it out and send it to their manager.

I have tried conditional formatting, but when i put in a condition, the "Hide This Control" option is greyed out.

    Thanks!

I am able to either hide the control or disable the control, it's not greyed out for me.

Why don't you attach your template so I can take a look?

    Ted
