getting multiple values when filtering list

    Hi,

I have simply problem but cannot figure it out. I have a sharepoint list with a columns department, email_address and number (which corresponds to department).

Now when I have two guys working in the same department the number column has the value "1" for both of them. When submitting the form I want these both guys to receive this form. But when I filter with following way (below) I can only first guy's email address. How I can get them both (and all guys that works in department "1")

    @Email_address[@Number = 1]

    Thanks in advance!

What exactly are you trying to do with it? Set a single field's value with multiple names? Are you using rules or code? With rules you will need to do a web search on how to use the eval() method. If code, you should be able to loop through all matching fields and build your own concatenated value.

    Hi,

I'd like to put to more simple way: let's say I have sharepoint list with two columns "department" and "employee". The list would look like this:

    Sales                John

    Sales                Jane

    HR                    Mark

Then I have repeating table (one column) in my InfoPath2003-form called "name". I also have option button which gives value "Sales". Now I would like to get first row of the repeating table to say "John" and second to say "Jane" (=all the names that belong to department "Sales"). How do I do that?

I've attached a sample that does this with conditional formatting. Right click the link in the post header, and save the template locally. Right click on the saved file and select Design to open in design mode. Preview and change the option button to watch the second table change.

Hi Hilary, thanks for your answer, now I understood the method: binding and conditional formatting.

However I got a design/layout problem, this has occured me before and now with also this: Even though the rule "hide this control" applies; infopath doesn't completely hide the control but instead leaves it's borders visible. This results in a thin line (or space, if transparent borders) to the form. How do I get rid of those thin lines? Another problem is that even though I have a table (1x1) and hide the section that is in it (and made sure they are no space between section and table borders), still the table gives me blank row. Where can this blank row possible still come from??

For your first issue, do you mean that when a row is hidden in a repeating table, you see a thicker border? I've had that happen, and if I recall, removing the top border from the row made it a bit prettier.

I'm afraid I don't understand the second issue you describe. Could you perhaps attach a sample template?

    How do I insert/attach file?

When you reply, there is an Options tab. You'll find a place there to attach a file.

Thanks. See attachment; there is the problem in all simplicity. Even though I hide the sections; there remains an empty space.

    check attachment.

all i did was to set the size of the row in which the section were located to

    Automatially set row height

    Hi,

Some things just have more simplier explanation than I can imagine. Never looked that option but know I do. Thanks!

    Hi Hilary,

About this attachment you sent long time ago. Now I need to understand it for other purposes but could you explain to me first how you have inserted 6 persons as a default to this list?

I don't seem to find any data except default values of "Sales" and "Jane" (1st row).

Apparently easy solution but I cannot figure it out
