Hi,

I am working on an infopath form,I had 2 buttons in that form.

Button1: Submit-->Submits data to sharepoint and web service.I am using  perform custom action using rules option in this button.

Button2:Update-->Submits form data to update database,but nothing doing with sharepoint.This button will be only visible to user once the form is already submitted.I am using  perform custom action using rules option in this button.

Both buttons are working exactly as i need.When form is submitted ,the form data is inserted to database tables using webservice and a new form with data is also created in sharepoint doc library.

Now user clicks on the form in doc library (in this context user is presented with Update button not the submit)opens the form and edits it clicks on update button.The data is updated properly to database using web service.But,the form with updated data is not saving to the sharepoint library.

If i add a rule for that button to submit to sharepoint another form will be created in doc library instead overwriting the existing one.How can i handle this situation.When user clicks on update button,i want database updation as well as saving the existing form into doc library.

you will need to modify the way you are submitting to sharepoint, the name you are using as file name needs to be stored on the form itself, so that the next time you submit the older form gets over written instead of a new form being created. check this 

Thanks for replying.I have done as you guided.Created a field with name say filename.

Filename=concat(username,"_",now)

For the update button,i modified the connection and changed the File name to Filename field.Also to watch the filename i have addded filename field as column to sharepoint doc library.

No using sumit button,first i submitted the form.This created a new form in sharepoint with filename xxx_2010-02-17T09_24_31 and column name with  xxx_2010-02-17T09_24_31.

Now i tried to edit the created form from sharepoint doc lib,and clicked on update,another file got created with filename xxx_2010-02-17T09_25_31 and column name with  xxx_2010-02-17T09_24_31(same as above).

Now what am i doing worng.How to handle this.Please help me.Thanks.
