A calculation in the form has not been completed and calculations for a single action exceeded the maximum limit

    Hello,

I have an InfoPath form (browser-enabled) which will eventually have about 10 different views and each of the views will contain about 4 repeating tables. Each repeating table will have 5 columns of which 3 columns are queried from an XML using Calculated Default values. Right now, the form has 3 views. When I clicked on "Refresh Server" in the Design Checker in the rich client to check any compatibility errors or messages, it was giving the message: "The form template can't be verified" When I clicked on the details of the error message, it said "the data connection couldn't be found, service timed out, certificate couldn't be found. When I went ahead and deleted some of the calculated default values which would be queried from the XML, I didn't get this message when I cliked on the Refresh Server.

But when I published the template to a SharePoint Form Library, it was giving me a warning when I was trying to open an instance of the form from the form library. The warning was "A calculation in the form has not been completed and calculations for a single action exceeded the maximum limit". Was this because there are too many calculated fields that are queried from XML in the form? Could you please help?

    I appreciate your help

That last warning usually has to do with accidental loops -- a field is calculating on itself, for example. In InfoPath 2007 you can use the Logic Inspector to help you track these things down, but you may need to revisit your default value calculations.

    Thanks Hillary!!

I was able to figure it out by changing the default value calculations. The form has gotten larger now. I have added 7 more views to the form. Each view has about 4 repeating tables and each repeating table has about 10 rows. I am able to publish the form to a Form Library, but I get a warning that the form couldn't be browser-enabled. When I go to the Form Library, the form opens in the InfoPath client, but not in the browser. Can you tell me why this happens? Is this due to a InfoPath Form Services timeout limit?

Thanks in advance for your reply

You need to find out why the form can't be browser enabled. With the form open in design mode, try checking the Design Checker task pane for errors.

    Hi Hillary,

Thanks very much for your reply!!

The Design Checker gave me a message "An error occured while verifying the form template" when I clicked "Refresh". When I clicked on "Show Details", the following details come up.

"InfoPath either cannot connect to the data source, the service has timed out, or the server has an invalid certificate". I read in the other forms that this happens when the forms get larger and it has something to do with the Data Connection Timeout Limit. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks!!
