    Repeating Dropdown help

    Question?

What does the structure of the rule look like regarding a repeating dropdown being validated from a sharepoint list. There is one site column that has a boolean condition in my list. If that condition is "0", I don't want the option to show up in the dropdown. If its grey'd out thats equally fine. The row has an Id dedicated to it, but i cant seem to frame the logic around it.

Secondly, I am having trouble on the backend. When said document is submitted it goes to the respective Form lib. I want and to date have not been able to frame the logic to read the submitted forms content type and extract the "repeating dropdown" data into an email. Correction, I can extract or read the content type data but it only retreives the first row of the multi line text.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Re: Repeating Dropdown help

    Hi:

You'll want to add a filter to the rows for your drop down. When you select the node that provides the values for your drop down, you'll have the option to add a filter. The first drop down for the filter would be the node that has the boolean condition. The second field would be 'is not equal to' and for the third, enter your '0'. This link has a demo on filtering. Perhaps it will help.

When you promote a property, and the field you are promoting is from a repeating data source, you can select to merge the data in the column. I'm not sure if you are talking about promoted properties in your second question -- first you mention a form library (which made me think promoted properties) but then you mention email?

You may decide to have a single, non-repeating field and use the double eval method to merge the fields yourself, depending on what you are wanting to do....

    Re: Repeating Dropdown help

I have had mixed results with rules and if i do this with the conditional format, the stike thru option say. It works from the stand point that everything in the drop down strikes thru until the next selection. I will play with it some more. I was not having much success from the rule logic. But I'll get it, I have broken the dropdown status out into text boxes and I'l getting confidence that my logic is sound.

Confusion on my explanation I would guess. I have promoted the fields. They show up in the merged format and my content type see's the promoted fields as multile lines of text.

Where I have hit the wall and can't find any documentation or support is on the backend. Aside from my logic at the form level, infopath is generating me a nice form. Sharepoint form library is hosting my forms proper. The problem is I want to create a workflow that takes my "multiple lines of text", created in form, "submitted to sharepoint" and now I want the "workflow to create an email" and have the (five or six) items from the dropdown that was submitted in a form to sharepoint to show up in an email? All I am getting is the first row of data using the tool inside of the email tool. I don't see a way to tell the tool to look at  row 2 of the multiple lines ...

Any help here would be just awesome.

Working basic here, 5 (or so) lines from a dropdown, of repeating data submitted to form library, workflow created to read the 5 (or so) lines of multiple lines of text into an email, via sharepoint designer?

You spend many hours dedicated to posting solutions for slugs like me. Your multiple posts have become invaluable to my growth on these tools. Thanks for your time Hilary, maybe you need to pen a book!

    Re: Repeating Dropdown help

Browser enabled forms lack filtering. Here's a link to a blog post that may help you.

I'm afraid I can't be much help to you on SharePoint workflow. I did a quick Google search to find out if copying multiline text was a known issue, and I don't see anything....
