Help with: Submit Items to a SharePoint List with qRules v2.0!

Hello, I have been trying to complete the tutorial "Submit Items to a SharePoint List with qRules v2.0!" and have some issues. I am running the following:

    WorkStation:

    Windows XP
    Infopath 2007
    qRules 2.0 trial version

    Server:

    MOSS 2007 Enterprise
    Windows Server 2008
     ISSUE:

I have completed the tutorial several times. Each time I have completed the tutorial I cannot preview the form. The first few times I tried this I was greeted with a security error which I thought might be SharePoint site permission related. I made sure that my account was added to the full control group and made a few test posts directly from the UI. I continued troubleshooting and found nothing in the event viewer on either the server or my local machine. after researching a bit I changed the form to full trust and was able to successfully open and fill out the expense report. However when I hit submit just the email to your manager part comes up and says it was successful, (and I receive the email) but no item is added to the list.
     Any Ideas?  Thanks, Steve

Hi -- can you attach a copy of your template to a reply so we can take a look at it? You can attach a file under the Options tab....

Is it possible to call in for support with just the free trial? We need to find a solution for this project quickly. Thanks, Steve

Re: Help with: Submit Items to a SharePoint List with qRules v2.0!

Sorry I didn't see this on the 19th when you posted it!

Looking at your template, one thing I see is that your command is:

    SubmitToSharePointList /submit=TestSubmit /mapping=mapping /id=my:id

But in your data source the ID field is "ID". This would mean your command should be (bold for emphasis):

    SubmitToSharePointList /submit=TestSubmit /mapping=mapping /id=my:ID

To see what your error might be from the qRules submit, you can put the QdabraRules error node on your form, so that after you run the command, you can see if there are any errors. I've attached a copy of the form template with these changes, so that you can try previewing it again and see if any errors are recorded to the errors node. Right click the link in the post header, Save As to save locally, right click the saved file and select Design to open in design mode.

So you know, I have not had to make forms full trust to run this command. Also, on my machine, I was able to preview the form without it being full trust. What errors were you getting on preview?

    Thanks Hilary.

I have tried the ID part both ways with the same result before I came here for help with no luck either way. I downloaded your form and I can not open it. First it said that I had to re publish it before I could run it. I opened it in design mode but cannot preview the form. It just states that InfoPath could not open the form. So I Published the form over again and tried to open / preview the form and  I received a message stating "This form cannot be opened because it requires the domain permission level and it currently has restricted permission. To fix this problem open the form from the location is was published to." The details say: Forms that require the domain permission level contain features that access information on a network, such as data connections, linked images, and code.Could there be a domain policy blocking this from being submitted?     here is the message the debugging turned up: An error has occurred executing the rule. Error: Cannot access URL 'http://my.sharepointsite.com/_vti_bin/lists.asmx'. I have entered this address in my browser and it comes up fine, so im at a loss as to why it cant see the list.

Re: Help with: Submit Items to a SharePoint List with qRules v2.0!

Hilary,  I have had a measure of success. I am able to submit data to the list now. I went into the central admin console and in the forms services section i cleared the checkmark on the "require SSL for HTTP authentication to data sources. I am still having the issue with being able to open the form without having full trust turned on, but im hoping that won’t be an issue when using InfoPath forms services to render our forms. Do you see that being an issue?  Thanks for all your help!

Ah. When we use qRules, we add code to our form template. This means that for a browser form, you'll need to admin deploy the template. The user guide has information on this starting at page 6. Give it a read through, and let us know if you have additional questions....

Re: Help with: Submit Items to a SharePoint List with qRules v2.0!

I am having the same problem.  When I preview a form in the client, it creates and updates my sharepoint list just like it should.  But as soon as I publish it as an administrator approved form and open it within the browser, I get the following error handed back in the Error element:

An unexpected error occurred executing the rule. Action: SubmitToSharePointList   Arguments:   submit: WebServiceSubmit  mapping: pitmapping  id: my:id     Details: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.  Stack:   at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.DocumentLifetime.OMExceptionManager.ExecuteOMCallWithExceptions(OMCall d, ExceptionFilter exceptionFilter)     at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.DocumentLifetime.OMSecurityContext.ExecuteOMCall(Solution solution, SecurityLevel methodSecurityLevel, ExceptionFilter exceptionFilter, OMCall d)     at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.DocumentLifetime.WebServiceConnectionHost.Execute(XPathNavigator input, XPathNavigator output, XPathNavigator errors)     at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.UploadData(String siteUrl, DataConnection dc)     at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.SubmitToSharePointList(String submitDs, String mappingDs, String id)     at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.ExecuteCommand()

I am using qRules v2.2, Infopath 2007 (SP2) and MOSS 2007 (SP1).  I had changed the Security and Trust setting to "Full Trust" before uploading the form template to the central administration site.  I don't believe there was any mention of the "Full Trust" setting in the qRules User Guide.  Is this necessary?

You shouldn't have to use full trust. Is your list and form on the same server?

Re: Help with: Submit Items to a SharePoint List with qRules v2.0!

I changed the Form Options Security level back to "Automatically determine security level".  The form template properties in the Central Admin now show the Trust Level as "Domain trust".   Unfortunately this did not help.  My List and Form Library are both located within the same subsite (http://sitecollection/site).  Again the submittosharepointlist works fine if using the infopath client.  My sharepoint installation does use multiple web front ends.  There is a load balanced url also.  Before when I setup the submit data connection I used http://loadbalURL/site/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?WSDL.  I went ahead and used "http://webfrontend/site/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?WSDL.

Still getting the same result....it works with the infopath client ..... not the browser.

It seems most likely that the unauthorized error would stem from the submit data connection to the lists web service. You may want to try adding another data connection to your form that uses a method from the lists service, see if other lists methods also give you an unauthorized error?

Yes I was receiving unauthorized errors during another web service call using browser forms.

The sharepoint environment I have uses 2 web front ends and is load balanced.  When I use the load balanced url (ex. http://loadbalurl/site/formlib) , I get an error (401 unauthorized found in sharepoint logs) after clicking the submit button.  When I use either of the web front end's name in place of the load balanced url, (ex. http://webfrontend1/site/formlib) the form submits the data to the sharepoint library and it works!  Only problem is that I want the users using the load balanced URL.

A quick Google search took me to this blog post -- perhaps it can help you? He suggests some configuration changes that may allow you to use the load balanced URL.

Re: Help with: Submit Items to a SharePoint List with qRules v2.0!

I had the same issue with load balanced servers using WIndows Server 2008 R2, SP 2010 and IP 2010. The IP client would update the SP list successfully but in web services I got the "401 unauthorized" error in the qTools error field and "An error occurred accessing a data source. An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server. Log ID:5566" when submitting. With much patience and help from Hiliary and team I finally resolved this by making the registry change as described in this link by Zeroecho. http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/t/7676.aspx?PageIndex=2. It works like a bomb!

For my details of the issues I had see my postings at this link: http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/17321/60696.aspx#60696
