Retrieving single record data into InfoPath form from SharePoint list

I would like to select a single record from a sharepoint list,   and use the data to populate an infopath form

I have all my fields bound,  everything in good order,  but  the form always pulls the first record in the list.  Anyone know how to code this,  or is it even possible?

when you create a secodary data connection to infopath list, it fetches all the rows. when you bind them to fields you get an option to filter, there is where you set the condition for the data from which record to be populated in your fields. obviously you are missing the same.

If you want only one record to be fetched you will have to write object model code to hit the sharepoint list and get the particular record
