    Hi to everyone

The first time to post some questions. Hoping can find the answers here. I just started to develop some solution with Infopath to get rid of the paperwork of internal communication, clumsily getting somewhere.

    1. I want to insert a link, but it is not the http hyperlink, not a link to the certain place within the form either. it is for a file on the shared drive for everyone in the domain. when the form user click on the "link", maybe it should be called "path", it opens the file on the shared drive for user to read. I could attach the file, but it makes the form huge by size, slower it down. Any solution?

    2. After I delete the file I attached, the size of the form s still huge, like the file is still there. Any solution before I re-do everything?

    Any ideas welcome! highly Appreciated!

    Hi,

First can you verify that is there any resource files and data connections added to your xsn for File.

You can use hyperlink field in the form and point and link to file attachment in shared location. In this way user can able to the file attachment from form.

    Thanks Anuma!

No, no connection from external s been added to the form.

I tried to add the hyperlink field, S:\tobeattachedfilename, but when you click on that, the IE browser opens with http://s:\tobeattachedfilename, of coz it wont take you to anywhere.

     Cheers!

    Hi,

Create one library in hsarepoint. Upload file attachment to the sharepoint. Give sharepoint path in the hyperlink instead of shared loacation.

Do you have any problem to use sharepoint path instead of shared loacation?

    Thanks again.

The trouble is we dont have sharepoint at all.

only MS server2003, runs teminal server, remote in.

I have to use this form as a standalone for a while before I intergrate it with sharepoint.

    Cheers!

Hi Try creating the hyperlink in MS Word (I'm using Office 2003). The tooltip for the hyperlink will show the path as file:///S:\filelocation etc. I have used this successfully to create hyperlinks to files in IP2003 Gary

    Thanks a lot, Gary

I didnt quite get what you say, but it inspired me in some way.

What I did was I went to M/S word, insert a hyperlink as G:/filename.doc. and then I copied and pasted into Infopath, it worked! but for the first time, it gave me a security warning, ignore it. try it again. It opened with IE browser with the path in the address bar(\\admin\data ect)and then the whole doc. showed up.

    Cheers!
