I have an internal SharePoint site where an InfoPath form is used as a template to create documents saved to a document library. The form has 3 sections where pulldown menus populate a field with a value. If you choose option 1, for example, the field is populated with the number 100, 200 for option 2, etc. Each of these 3 sections have several pulldown menus and a field which totals the fields for the section. So the whole thing looks something like this:
-- section 1 --
1. choose an option [option 1] 300
2. choose an option [option 4] 50
total for this section: 350
-- section 2 -- [You get the basic idea...]
The field that holds the total for the section also has a rule. This rule states that if the total of the fields is more than 300, then set the value of this total field to 300. The idea being that no matter what values get chosen in the section, the section total can never total more than 300. This form works fine before submission. When the form is submitted, the rule for the total in each section is ignored. When you open the form again, the total in each section shows what the actual total would be from each form and not the "capped" total the rule for the field would apply. How I can modify the form so that the totals in each section are capped at a maximum value?
