InfoPath Dev

I have an excel file contains a table which has 2 columns : name of employee , department which he/she works in it

in infopath i have a form with 2 text boxes .I want when I fill out the name of employee in the one text box, the name of his/her department will be written automatically.

please help me...thanks

create a secondary data connection to your excel file.

and on name text box write rule to set value of department text box to data from secondary data connection, filtered on name (name of employee in infopath = name of employee in excel)

It is the first time I work with Infopath so could you please explain it more?

to create a secondary data connection

go to tools -> data connections -> add

-> select recieve data -> next

select database -> next

click database -> select your excel file

then in data source structure select columns you want to retrieve (employee name, department)

on the name text box

set a rule  to set value of department text box to data from secondary data connection, filtered on name
