work on two versions of the same form at the same time

    Hi all,

Sorry for the noob question as I have just started using InfoPath this month.

So anyway, here it is. I was half way through the InfoPath project I'm working on. I come to the point where I want to develop the project in 2 different ways. One is required by the user and the other is sort of an option just to show the user how it would be if we chose the other way of doing it. I want to copy the form to another folder and work on both versions at the same time but I know I will receive errors if I would just copy it manually. I don't want to start from scratch to do the second version.

Can anybody please tell me how to go about this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi:

Open the form you want to base your second version on in design mode. From the File menu, select Save As to save the template to the new location. At this point, the form that is open will be your copy. To work on your original, you'll need to reopen it in design mode.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you very much Hilary. Your suggestion works! I didn't know it's that simple I thought I have to publish it first then do some configurations setting. Oh well... like I said earlier I'm a complete noob about InfoPath hope you bear with me. I would surely come up with more questions like this one :)

Some things are more complex than others -- this one happened to be simple! There are lots of answers here, and if you don't find what you need be sure to ask!
