Getting Access Denied Error while making a connection

Hello Everyone, This is the first time I am using Infopath and I got stuck with "Access Denied" error. I created a data connection (to receive data from SQL Server) and then I simply took one drop down and bind the dropdown value from external data source column value. When I click on the preview button, I am getting three button :

    1. Work Offline 2. Try to Connect (When I clicked ion this button, I got one popup saying that, Infopath connected to data source but failed to receive data)

    3. Show Details -> when I clicked on this button it shows :

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: OEE_Data

InfoPath cannot run the specified query.

InfoPath cannot connect to the data source.

Access is denied. Access is denied.

Can anyone please help me as I dont know why I am getting this Access Denied error. Any help would be appreciated......Thanks

Hi -- are you able to connect to the server? When you create the data connection, are you using Windows Authentication? Or SQL? If you are using SQL, are you saving the connection string?

You get this error when you try to create the secondary data connection in your form template?

Re: Getting Access Denied Error while making a connection

    Hi Hilary,

Thanks for the response, Actually I opened MS Infopath 2007 for first time, it was totally blank, there was no existing connection. I created a new data connection with SQL Server 2008.so  i think this is the primary data connection (I do not have much idea abt primary and secondary).

After create this data connection (to receive data from SQL Server) I simply took one drop down and bind the dropdown value from external data source column value.

Any help on this regard will be appreciated.

Re: Getting Access Denied Error while making a connection

Did you use windows authentication or SQL authentication when you created the connection? I mean, the error you are getting really does tell the whole story, you are being denied access to the table you are requesting data from...

is windows authentication is not working to connect database from infopath..? Any other possible reason..?

Thanks in advance to share your exp in this regard.

If you can access the table in SSMS using your windows authentication, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to access it from InfoPath. Have you tried recreating the data connection?

    Hi Hilary,

    Thanks for the reply..

yes, I tried to create a connection many times, but every time after making a connection, whenever I am trying to preview the form, I am getting same error.

Don't know, how to get rid of this issue.
