Getting full list of users in a dropdown box, multi selection

So I was able to get the name of the current user by following the instructions in this post for connecting to sharepoint via a web service.

On the same form, I attemped to follow the same steps for a listbox to return a list of all users on the site using GetUserCollectionFromSite but am getting this error: [you must select a repeating group or field]

How do I get the full names of all of my users in a sorted list that I can select more than one value of?

    THANK YOU!!!

    Hello,

maybe the following article can help you to accomplish this task (I have done it succesfully with this guiding instructions):

    Hope this helps.

I'm still learning VS but will give it a try... I am not able to see any of the screen shot images in the url you sent me.

I'm not really sure why I can't just get a list back directly from the web service? Can you explain that to me?

    Many thanks.

ok - found the screenshots here

I have some super newbie ?s to ask you now if you don't mind...

    Here he states:

"Create a New Visual Studio .Net project based on the InfoPath Form Template and call it ExampleGetSiteUsers."

My InfoPath Form is already created.

So does that mean that I click on:

    Create.../Project.../Visual C#.../.... Then what?

Can I open my infopath form in VS and then follow these steps? Is that easier?

Hi -- I think you'll need to install Visual Studio Tools for Office, if you don't already have it. Then, you'll see Office projects in the Visual C# group. You can select InfoPath Form Template. You'll have an option to either use an existing template or create a new one after you create the project. Oh, I use VS 2005 -- other versions may be slightly different.

    Hello,

Qdabra is working on a tool with similar functionality as that of Contact Selector's. You get to search for users in your Active Directory (using DBXL AD Web Service), and then pick users from the resulting list. You can even delete users if you desire.

Of course there are ways to do these in code, but because this tool uses Qdabra's qRules, you don't need to worry about writing your own code at all. qRules does all that for you.

We are still working on improving and testing the tool. We will let you know as soon as it's available.

Thank you! For not I just used a sharepoint list with all my employees in it. Not Ideal but I need to move on.

I will test this out though!

     Hilary,

You had stated in this blog that the user needed to download Visual Studio Tools for Office.  So I followed the link you have listed and installed this on my machine ( I also have VS 2005).  I didn't receive any errors while downloading; however when I open VS and look for the Office templates they are not listed.  Is there something additional that needs to be added?

You are looking under Visual C# (or VB.Net?) If you open Visual Studio 2005, and select Help > About Visual Studio, do you see Visual Studio Tools for Office in your Installed Products list?

I looked under both.  I checked under the about and it doesn't show it listed; however it does show Visual Studio Tools for Applications.  Also, I tried running the download again and it only gave me the choices of Repair and Uninstall so I know it's installed.  I tried Repairing but I still don't see it in my list.

Visual Studio Tools for Applications installs with Office. If it doesn't show up in the Installed Products list, it seems like something must have gone wrong with the install. Have you restarted Visual Studio?

Ah, my error! Try this download. In the details, it sounds like this is the one with the IP 2007 code behind support....
