Print just what is filled out?

I made some forms with infopath and am starting them up with some sales people to use. Is there a way to create the print view so it will just print the fields of infomation they have filled out?

    Hi Dezign Guy,

You can use conditional formatting to hide show fields in sections based on whether those fields are blank. That would require wrapping each field in a section. Would be a lot of work. Why not just print the form as is? Why do you want to only show the filled in data? I mean the other fields are blank anyway. Maybe I just don't understand what you are trying to do. If you have lots of data and have big sections that you want to show/hide based on whether they are complete, that's easy to do with conditional formatting. Double click the section to get the properties, click Display tab and Conditional Formatting. Add a rule that hides the section based on whether all fields in it are filled out. That ought to work for large sections. For single fields, it's probably too much work.

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the reply. The form is for sales to fill out for design requests, which turn into quotes and then orders, its a 3-in-1. There are items that will never be filled in for each situation. It just depends on what kind of item the customer wants. I was just wondering how to make things disappear that were not checked or filled in. I do have it set up to print the whole form which can be 2 1/2 pages and I know it could be one based on the information. I have some check boxes that open whole sections, but not any that hide a section if all the info is empty. I will give that a try! I just wondered if there was an easy way to make the empty fields disappear. Thanks for the help! Wes

I needed something similar so I setup a view that does nothing more than serve as a print view and put the conditional formatting on that one view.  This way you're not messing with the input portion and it gives you the opportunity to set it up as a very minimalist picture that prints well on any kind of printer (ie. mine is in grayscale, no pictures) and you can rework the formatting so the print view is different than the input view.  A recommendation though if you do this, make the print view read-only so you don't have to worry about making sure required fields are marked and such which would clutter your print-out.

     Hope that helps.

    Karen.
