    Button Rules

    Hi,

     Calling for help!

I have a data connection that will submit the form to the SharePoint library.

My form consists of two view:

    1. Main View (Proceed Button)
    2. Confirmation View (Submit Button)

When user click the Proceed Button, the form will switch to the Confirmation View.

At my form I have a submit button with the following rules:

    1. Submit Form
    2. Approve/Reject Request
    3. Delete Draft

All those rules are control by a flag (1=Submit Form, 2/3 = Approve/Reject Form, 4=Delete Draft)

Action for Submit Form are the following:

    1. Set field's value
    2. Submit using a data connection: SharePoint Library Submit
    3. Close this form: No Prompt

Action for Approve/Reject are the following:

    1. Set field's value
    2. Query using a data connection: Process Task Response
    3. Set field's value
    4. Submit using a data connection: SharePoint Library Submit
    5. Switch to view: Main View

Action for Delete Draft are the following:

    1. Set field's value
    2. Submit using a data connection: SharePoint Library Submit
    3. Close this form: No Prompt

All the rules are running perfectly except for the 'Delete Draft' rule.

Could anyone please help me! I'm at wits end already.

    Thank you.

    hi,

as far as i can see, the actions perfomed for submit and delete draft are same, except you will be setting the flag with different values. try using submit form to delete draft.

Also can u attach the form, so that i can have a look at it

You said that Delete Draft is not running perfectly, but you didn't tell us what is happening.  We can't guess what's wrong, so if you can let us know what exactly is happening (or not happening), then we can probably figure it out.

Mainly, are you saying that the Delete Draft rule never runs?  If so, the condition is not being met.  Or, are you saying it runs and closes the form but doesn't perform the actions you want.  What is the "set field's value" doing and what do those minor steps have to do with deleting a draft?

Let us know the details of what's wrong, and we can help better.

    Hi Qazi Anis,

Yes. The actions are same except at the action 'set field's value' is on different control. I think this does not contribute to the problem. Correct me if I'm wrong.

What do you mean by trying using submit form to delete draft?

I'm sorry. I don't know how to attach file :(

    Hi warrtalon,

If you notice, the action for rule 'Submit Form' and 'Delete Draft' are the same. The difference is that the fields being used are different but the action is to set a boolean field to true.

I think the first action is running. The third action is actually running. But the second action is not running.

FYI, the actions at rule 'Submit Form' are all running perfectly.

    Hi Tza_03,

to set a boolean value to true or false, you have to use function true()/false(), not just set it to a value and type true or false.

Plus: i am not getting most of what you say, first you say delete draft is not getting executed properly, this time you say it is approve/reject.

Can you give more details, like what type of field you try to populate with what value at what action

    Hi Qazi Anis,

Oops. Sorry. My mistake. All rules are okay except for the 'Delete Draft' rule.

    Really sorry for the confusion.

Ok, it looks fine to me.  It simply checks flagAction to see if it's 4, and you would assume that flagAction is 4 if the person clicked Delete Draft on the Welcome Page.

If the other rules are working, and they all are checking the flagAction like this, then what EXACTLY is happening when someone clicks "Yes" after Delete Draft?  Is anything happening?  Is it closing?  Is it submitting? Is it setting flagDelete to TRUE?  What exactly is happening?

PS.  Your notification text for Delete Draft is missing some words.

PPS. This is a cool form.

    Hi Warrtalon,

The flagAction is 4 when the person clicked "Delete Draft" on the Welcome Page.

When the person click "Yes" on the Confirmation Page,

    1. The flagDelete will be set to true
    2. The form will be submitted to the SharePoint
    3. The form will be close without any prompt

Once the form is submitted to the SharePoint, a workflow is started. The workflow will delete the item form the SharePoint.

    PS. What's the missing word?

PPS. Thanks. I had help from my colleague though.

FYI, I had developed other forms that also use the same rules at the "Yes" button on the Confirmation page and it works perfectly.

Ok, so is it working or not?  I'm confused by your response.  I know what the flagAction is - I referenced it in my response.  I also know what the actions are on that rule.  I'm asking what is ACTUALLY happening.  I thought you said this wasn't working, but when I asked exactly what was happening, you explained what it does and appear to be saying it's working now?  I'm really not sure what's going on, sorry.  =D

There are multiple missing words - the sentence is incomplete.  You can see it on the Delete Draft button when you look at the Set a Field's Value for Notification.  I don't have it open, so I don't remember the words, but it was an incomplete sentence in English.

So, again, if this is the rule that isn't working, what EXACTLY is happening...what part is not working?  If it IS working, then please remind me what we're trying to help you figure out.

    Sorry for making you confius.

I keep posting what the rule should do.

The problem is that the action (submit using a data connection) at Delete Draft rule is not running.
