Hi I was wondering if there was any way to get the current forms name back into a text box using rules I have seen that it can be done using programming with me.URI but I wondered if there is a way to do this and void doing any code and using rules instead :) Many thanks Ben

the best thing to do is to DEFINE the filename yourself before the file gets submitted by putting it in a field and then configure your submit data connection to utilize that field.  It's better that way so that your users aren't typing in filenames and so that you always have unique filenames.  I have a blog showing how to do it:

Cheers for the suggestion! I managed to actually get the template name back programmatically using the outer xml, finding it in there and substrining the rest off Cheers though!

Ok, totally fine if you want code in the form, but it's best to avoid code unless absolutely necessary.  I make all of my forms without code unless they have qRules in them.  :)

You should be able to retrieve the value you want from the form's outer XML without using code.

You can access the mso-infoPathSolution processing instruction (I assume this is the one you want) in a rule or elsewhere by using

/processing-instruction()[local-name() = 'mso-infoPathSolution']

and then use substring-before() and substring-after() to get at the portion you want.

Hi Jimmy,

I know this is an old post, but I hope I can continue it.  The mso-infoPathSolution gives me the xsn filename, but not the xml filename saved using that form.  What I'm looking for is the filename of the xml file.  Is that possible?
