    .NET Framework problem

I have developed a 2007 form in Visual Studio 2008 for .NET Framework 3.5, and have successfully published and opened it from SharePoint.  However, when I rolled out the form to the other three members of my team (all have Office 2007 Enterprise installed), they each received the following error message when opening the form:

    Form template: http://team.prod.quest.corp/sites/Sales-Ops/OracleUpdate/Forms/template.xsn
InfoPath cannot open the selected form because of an error in the form's code.

The required version of the Microsoft .NET Framework is not installed on your computer, or the InfoPath Primary Interop Assembly (PIA) is not registered. Use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to make sure that the required version of the Microsoft .NET Framework is installed. Or install it using Windows Update and run the Setup program again to confirm that the corresponding version of the .NET Programmability Support is installed, or contact your system administrator.

All three team members have the 3.5 Framework installed.  I've searched around for solutions and found articles that suggest installing the Office PIAs and also turning on .NET Programmability Support for InfoPath.  Installing the PIAs didn't fix the problem, but here's the real head-scratcher:  On two machines, when I go to Add/Remove Features for Office, InfoPath isn't listed as an installed product; however, it is in fact installed and the users can open other 2007 InfoPath forms from SharePoint with no trouble.  On the third machine, InfoPath is listed as installed, but there is no option for turning on .NET Programmability Support.  All this is weird because we all have corporate machines and the configurations are the identical (with the exception of me having VS 2008).  By the way, when I go to Add/Remove Features on my machine, I see the .NET Programmability Support option under InfoPath.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

     Hi,

Please see this previous discussion and let us know if the solution there helps you.

Thanks, but that really doesn't address the problem.  Unfortunately there is no option under the InfoPath configuration for .NET programmability.  I've had the users reinstall Office, but it still doesn't show up.  .NET programmability is available for the other Office product (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook), so it's a real mystery to me what's going on.

    You can also try this:

    1. Navigate to the InfoPath Help menu and select Detect and Repair for InfoPath 2003 or Office Diagnostics for InfoPath 2007 to repair your InfoPath installation.

    2. Download and install the Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) for your version of Office:

    Office 2003: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=3c9a983a-ac14-4125-
    8ba0-d36d67e0f4ad&displaylang=en

    Office 2007: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=59daebaa-bed4-4282-
    a28c-b864d8bfa513&DisplayLang=en

    3. Run the InfoPath / Office setup again.

But installing the PIA does not always work, especially in Office 2007. The following steps work in many stubborn cases:

    1. Navigate to Control Panel:

    2. Select Add or Remove Programs:

    3. Select Microsoft Office 2007 and click on the Change button

    4. Select the Add or Remove Features radio button and click the Continue button:

    5. Click on the Microsoft Office InfoPath group

    6. Click in the box to the left of Microsoft Office InfoPath. Clicking in this area will bring up a popup menu with options.

    7. Select the Run all from My Computer option and click on Continue.

    8. Follow the remaining instructions to install all components of InfoPath 2007 on your computer.

Sorry, that's not it either.  Everyone has installed the PIAs.  And the eight-step solution you propose won't work because two of the users don't even have an InfoPath option under Add/Remove Programs (despite the fact that InfoPath is installed on their machine and they can successfully open SharePoint forms).

Other than removing Office and reinstalling it, I'm out of ideas.

This is a pretty common support issue for Qdabra's customers, and the steps above always seem to do the trick. Sorry.

I was afraid we were heading in that direction.  Thanks for all your help, though.  Much appreciated.
