    Fully Trusted Forms

    Hi,

Please could someone explain - I'm confused!! I use IP 2003 & MOSS 2003 - is there anyway I can deploy a form to a form Lib that can be fully trusted without all the fuss about users registering the form etc.? I don't mind users being asked when they open a form if they trust the author - just like I suppose Excel does when it asks the user if they want to allow macros to be run. Reading the microsoft stuff I thought it said if you changed the urn to something like FredSmith:ACME then it would ask the user if they trust the form - see below. I nearly got there by editing the XML, manifest & makecab etc. I published back to the form lib, but when another user tried to open the form I couldn't get it to work. If I get this fixed it's a major enabler to deploying more widely Infopath on our estate.

"You can create a URN-based form that is not fully trusted by setting the requireFullTrust attribute to No. This type of form will have access to system and cross-domain resources, but users will be prompted to allow it."  see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb251025.aspx

    Thanks

    Hi TerryB,

First off, Full Trust is a bad practice. 95% of forms out there do not need to be Full Trust. Why does yours? Better have a good reason, otherwise my answer is to remove that. :)

OK, so you really need FT... and you have discovered that URN based forms can be made Full Trust. Next step is to actually create them. RegForm was the tool for InfoPath 2003 to do this. You will need to run RegForm to create an MSI that will install the URN-based form on your client computers. The form will not live on ShP (MOSS 2003) but rather on the client computers where it is installed. You can't create an FT URN-based solution by just changing the name. You need to create an MSI installer to do it (or register the form manually via the registry, i.e. registering the form).

Good luck removing your need for an FT form... :)
