How do I enter a line break after the first word in a text box?

I have a textfield which I use writeprotected with a default value cause the field is getting to be formated when a radiobutton is pressed.

Works but now i want a line break a a specific possition. Is it possible to do so?

For me seams to be there is no way to do so. A line break can onl be entered on runtime. \r\n dont work. Changing the size of the field make the break on the end of the sentence and not after the first word like i want to. And using "normal text" instead of a textfield dont give me the option to format it in runtime on a condition.

Are you using code for this? It doesn't seem like this is talking about regular controls... If so, please post in the Code forum, not the Newbies forum. Thanks.

If you are using a textbox and need linebreaks, you can go into properties and select the option to allow paragraph breaks.

No - no code. Just standard.

The text in teh textfield can be formated on condition - thats what i use

Right click on he field under View the condtitional formating and then add a new condition like when fieldxx is equal 1 change the color to red and make it strong and underlined....

Of course i checked the paragraph breaks but then the breaks are where infopath want them and not where i want them. I want the break afer the first word.

Yikes, entering a line break via a rule? Never seen that before. Good luck.

I've changed the title of the thread so that it reflects the actual problem. Hopefully this helps to draw in more replies.

Re: Line Break in a TextField

Yes thanx for the new title.

I dont need to enter the break via a rule

I just have a text like " Attention! We need to do this and that ...."

After Attention I need a break. Easy with some standard text without a textfield but then i cant format the text on a condition like make the text strong and red when checkbox1 is checked.

When I use a textfield I can do the formating easy on the condition but then i cant make the break cause the text i give is the defaultvalue and in the control i cant enter breaks even if i make the hook for the paragraph break cause this only works in runtime. Ok I can change the size of the textfield but then i dont have the break where i want it - only somewher

I'm sorry; it's hard to understand what it is you want to do.

I understand you wish to format a message. Where is this message displayed? In a textbox control? In a dialog box?

In a textbox control but its not writeable so the text is the defaultvalue of the textbox control and the text getting red and strong formated when a checkbox is checked

It seems like you want some text in the form that always shows the same message, but sometimes has different formatting. Is that correct?

If so, it would be easiest to split it into separate expression boxes on separate lines, and then apply conditional formatting to all of them.  Would that do the trick?

    Hello,

I'm new on this forum and I'm searching for how make a default value with line breaks in a text box.

If I understand this topic, there is not simple solution, isn't it?

To be simpler, I want to propose the default view :

    "

    Root cause:

    Action plan:

    Next step:

     "

    Have a nice day.
