InfoPath 2003 - On Close of form

Good morning:  I am attempting to modify an Infopath form so that when the [X] is clicked to close the form, any data in the form needs to be saved and submited to the main data source.  I have found that there is an OnClose function for Infopath 2007/VS 2005.  However, I am using Infopath 2003/VS 2003.  The only public event is OnShutdown which seems to be too late in the sequence of events.

Can anyone tell me how to accomplish what I am trying to do in Infopath 2003/VS 2003?

     Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bill,

This was one of the best additions to 2007. There's no way to do it in 2003. You're right about OnShutdown being too late. I'll ask Greg if he has any other ideas.

Sadly, Microsoft did not anticipate this need and there is no way to capture such clicks to perform anything when they happen. I’m not sure whether this has been addressed in Office 2010, but I suspect it has not.

Patrick/Greg - I'm stuck with this problem now myself, and I'm a bit confused by your answers.

I haven't been able to find anything that handles a user clicking on the X. I've added some code in the _Shutdown event handler to see if the form isDirty, but the code bombs out. It's weird - it's as if the form is closed, yet the code is still allowed run.

Is there a workaround or is this the way it is?

    Thanks,

    Joe
